A day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta is one of the most enriching and memorable experiences to embark on from Ho Chi Minh City. Just 75 kilometers northwest of the city lies the Cu Chi Tunnels, an extraordinary underground labyrinth stretching over 250 kilometers. Originally built during the war against French colonial forces and later expanded during the Vietnam War, the tunnels served as living quarters, communication routes, and hidden supply lines for the Viet Cong. Today, they stand as a preserved symbol of Vietnamese resilience and wartime ingenuity. Exploring this historic site offers visitors a chance to learn about the challenges of underground life, view hidden trapdoors and bunkers, and appreciate the resourcefulness that helped shape Vietnam’s history.
The journey continues to the Mekong Delta, a fertile region often called the "Nine Dragon River Delta" due to the nine rivers that crisscross its terrain. This vibrant area showcases the natural beauty and cultural richness of southern Vietnam, with sweeping rice paddies, lush fruit orchards, and narrow canals lined with water coconut palms. As you cruise along the waterways, you’ll witness scenes of everyday rural life—children riding water buffaloes, farmers tending their fields, and vendors trading goods at floating markets. A visit to the Mekong Delta not only highlights Vietnam’s agricultural heartland but also provides a serene and authentic glimpse into a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for generations.

My wife and I booked the Mekong Delta tour through our hotel. The tour operator was Kim Travel and our tour guide was Tam. Tam was very knowledgeable and spent the journey to the Delta explaining the history of Vietnam and the philosophy of Buddhism. The tour was excellent with many experiences on the water of the Mekong. The lunch provided was excellent and the various visits to coconut candy processing and the Buddhist temple very interesting.Tam was a great guide taking care to look after us all. It was a long day but very worthwhile.

The tour exceeded our expectations ! We had a tour in the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi Tunnels and the full day was amazing thanks to our guide Xem! Xem was very polite, welcoming and taking care of all of us the whole day. He is a very good speaker and explained everything to us around the history of the places we visited, but also the history of Vietnam and the Ho Chi Mihn area. He also introduced us to the traditions and the everyday life of the locals with his stories. He is the best tour guide we ever had and we enjoyed the tour very very much!!! We totally recommend it!! 😊😊

We enjoyed the pleasant company and thorough guides and not rushed experience

It was a great trip with excellent guide, Ele, leading the way being both informative and flexible to the needs of others eg some wanted to fire guns but I didn’t but I was never pressured to do anything I felt uncomfortable with. I’d highly recommend. The one suggestion I have is slightly better clarity on details of pick up points as that information should not just rely on WhatsApp. But overall it was an excellent day. Thank you.

Nicole was a fantastic guide and made us enjoy even more the great itinerary this tour offers

Loved that it was a small group, Phony our guide, had great historical insights and had jokes all day. The long rides were just as entertaining. Thank you! Definitely recommend this tour to family and friends. —Janice

We had a fantastic day visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta with our guide, Phil. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind, he shared fascinating stories about Vietnam’s history and daily life. Thanks to his explanations, we learned so much and really appreciated the experience. Everything was perfectly organized, from the transport to the delicious local lunch. We also want to thank all the wonderful people who helped along the way, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We would 100% recommend this tour

Tam was a wonderful guide, we really enjoyed his stories and the whole experience was very worthwhile on our Mekong Delta day tour. The many methods of travel as well as food throughout the day were all wonderful and we will remember it fondly.

I did the Mekong Delta Tour, booked in my hostel. It was way better then expected tbh. My tour guide was Little Trung, he is really nice, funny without pushing it too hard, informative also about Việt Nams background, if you ask the right questions. The tour itself is as touristic as you think it is, but the places you visit are nice and interesting and the people friendly. You get a meal which was very good. Ofc you can buy stuff everywhere, that's why you are tasting it, but you don't have to buy it and noone get's mad or anything. I recommend doing it :-)

Beautiful place. The delta boat ride is an experience unlike anything i have seen, and the tour guide was very pleasant and lunch was included too. We were picked from hotel promptly and it was a long 2.5 hrs drive. Highly recommend this to anyone. Only thing to consider is you spend 8+ hours for this activity. I wish there was a shorter version.
